He Was Just a Friend

Enough was enough for her. Though they had many good times there were also many hard times they shared. Their hard times didn’t consist of financial hardship but more so the lack of communication that led to a lot of misunderstanding. He misunderstood her complaining of little attention and affection for being too needy when in all actuality she yearned to be wanted and needed by him as she once was in the beginning. Eventually her patience wore thin and somehow ended up at a lunch date. Sitting across from her was a friend who often insisted on making her laugh when he noticed a frown on her face. A friend who often insisted on lending an ear to vent to about stressful work days that not even her own man would inquire about. While her own man was too busy to take her car to the mechanic it was this very friend sitting across from her who took the time out of his busy schedule to do so. This lunch date was calm yet very intense because for the first time she noticed just how attractive and attentive her guy friend was. His colgate smile was mesmerizing, the sound of his laugh tickled her, and the way he stared at her with his brown eyes as if he was mentally undressing her gave her butterflies. Who would want to end a lunch date such as this one when it was so effortlessly pleasing? So instead of going their separate ways they took a walk in the city stopping at a museum there and an antique boutique there. Hours had passed and to end their day separating just didn’t seem like an option. Her phone had not rung not once because as usual the man she had been committed to never checked in. So feeling guilty never had a chance to cross her mind while she sat on the bar stool in her friend’s apartment that she had somehow ended up at holding a glass of wine.
